Levity and Brevity

Thoughts on wellness, kids, family, pop culture and whatever else winds through the mind of a Renaissance woman....

A few things a little coronavirus taught us...

-I put out a newsletter in early 2020 (March) trying to bring calm and recommendations in "unprecedented" times.  Looking back, those commonsense suggestions were quite reasonable and hopefully helpful.  I certainly worked with a LOT of covid over the past 3 years and learned a LOT.
Here's a few things I think we could all learn from navigating a challenging time full of disparate information and a lot of division:
-communities function best when strong and together
-people need people
-the health status of the body is much more important than the bug that is circulating
-occasionally we are going to get each other sick (this is not a bad thing unless great risk exists)
-sick people need EARLY access to care...at risk people NEED CARE immediately.
-treating the individual (herbs, homeopathy, food, etc) based on unique presentation is truly AMAZING
-stay home when sick (symptoms are your body's language requesting help, rest, attention)...I hope we REALLY got this one now.
-well people that feel great, look sparkly and have vitality really are well.  Making healthy people seem dangerous was, well, dangerous for society.  (I could write for days on symptoms and viral load).
-masks divided and harmed us WAY more than they helped...sorry, this is not based on opinion but data (I reviewed all existing literature BEFORE, during and after) and it was clear all along the limitations of this intervention
-personal health decisions are private and should stay that way
-true health and resilience simply does not fit inside of a syringe
-segregation has always been a bad thing
-we are stronger together
-trust your neighbor more than media, corporations or political entities...they tend to have bias don't they?
-love your neighbor

It's about time...

1/2/2019

Being an entrpreneur was never my original goal, and it has been a learning process to be sure.  Eleven years into practice I'm glad to wear this hat.
I take pride in the fact that I spend a LOT of time with a new person...90-120 minutes.  I need this time to really understand a person's state of health and make a plan of action.  I think folks appreciate it as well, especially given the time allotted in a conventional setting.
For a long time I let fear stop me from charging a rate that reflects the time spent.  Instead I defaulted to my one hour visit fee.  I'm going to be brave and honor my time as of January 2019...see my services page for a streamlined fee schedule.  And thanks so much for engaging in a healing journey with me.

A tale of three poxes...

So... a good bit of June/July was devoted to nursing my family through chickenpox (first and second round).  This was great timing with school out, and we wanted the kids to go ahead and get it while young.  My four year old had it first, and to her it was really not a big deal at all.  With the help of homeopathic and herbal remedies she actually didn't find it itchy (wow).  Two weeks later things got a bit more uncomfortable when the seven year old followed by the 41 year old got the pox. I'm so thankful to plant medicines for seeing us through. From fever and itching to preventing scarring and shortening duration of the illness natural remedies made a HUGE difference!  ALL BETTER!

Happy Father's Day...

Here's a brief homage to my dad...
No, he may not have the healthiest diet...thanks for staying on that, Mom.
No, he won't try half the teas  or "witchy potions" I try to shove down him.
For the love of Pete...he will NOT try goat milk.
But...
My dad taught me some very important lessons early on about being WELL..
My dad has been an active man all my life; I'd go so far as to say adventurous.  He taught me how to tackle a challenge with an equal balance of confidence and humility. And he taught me to always do my best, regardless of the circumstances.
And...
No one can tell a funny story like Papa Jim.
Here I am launching into a new challenge (literally launching the site) on Father's Day and I know no one will be prouder than my pop.
I love you.

    Hmmm....

Who doesn't like to read a good blog post...but for goodness sake I'll try to keep it brief!
